Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment used in construction, mining, and other industries. The job responsibilities of a Heavy Equipment Operator may include:
1. Operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, forklift and cranes.
2. Reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine job requirements.
3. Operating equipment safely and efficiently to complete tasks such as digging, grading, and leveling.
4. Performing routine maintenance on equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and refueling.
5. Conducting pre-operation inspections to identify potential problems and prevent equipment breakdowns.

7. Communicating with other workers on the job site to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient operations.

Requirements
To become a Heavy Equipment Operator, a secondary certificate or equivalent is typically required, along with on-the-job training or a vocational program in heavy equipment operations. Additionally, candidates must possess good hand-eye coordination, physical strength, and the ability to work in a team environment. The qualified Heavy Equipment Operators must also have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check and drug test.
